If there was something we learned in the last year, it was time to have self-care, we had to take care of your nails, skin and especially hair, with the beauty salons closed, care had to be taken to keep the hair beautiful and hydrated, but after all this time do you feel like your hair is in need of something? So, learn some tips for taking care of your hair at home.
1- Identify what your hair needs
Before starting any kind of care, you must first identify what is missing from your hair, this can be hydration, nutrition or reconstruction, and there are two ways to find out what kind of care your hair needs.
Do a porosity test: take a transparent pot of water and put a hair inside for 10 minutes, after that time the thread can indicate if the porosity of your hair is normal, high or low.
Normal porosity: if the strands are halfway in the water, it needs capillary nutrition.
High porosity: if the wires sink, they need capillary reconstruction.
Low porosity: if the threads float, capillary hydration is necessary.
Run your hand through your hair: another way to discover the need for your hair is to run your hand and look carefully, depending on the appearance and texture, it is already possible to know what is missing.
Rough, dull and dry hair: needs hydration
Porous, scruffy, frizz-free hair: needs nourishment.
Fragile hair, with fall and elastic: needs reconstruction.
2- Create a capillary schedule
The hair schedule is a series of weekly care, this care schedule includes treatments such as hydration, nutrition and reconstruction and must be done according to the needs of your hair.
Hydration: if your hair is rough, dull and dry it means it needs hydration, it replenishes the hair’s natural water which guarantees flexibility against breakage and malleability, leaving the hair much softer, aligned, shiny and without frizz.
Nutrition: nutrition is essential to replenish the nutrients/lipids lost by the hair when the hair is porous and misaligned, nutrition protects the hair against the daily aggressions that cause dryness, frizz and weakening of the hair fiber, replaces the oiliness responsible for keeping your hair healthy and aligned.
Reconstruction: the reconstruction must be done when the hair is fragile, elastic misaligned and falling a lot because the hair reconstruction restores the lost nutrients (keratin, proteins and amino acids) of the strands, restores strength against breakage and makes hair more full-bodied and silky strands.
The capillary schedule varies according to what the hair needs, it should start with hydration and be followed by other treatments with an interval of 2 days, below are some examples of capillary schedules that you can follow.
3 – Use products specific to your hair type
No matter if your hair is straight, curly, short or long, you will always find products suitable for it, and you should use them correctly. Shampoo, conditioner and moisturizing cream are essential for hair care, but if you find it necessary you can add other products to your hair routine.
4- Moisturize the ends of the hair or make an embroidered cut
If you’re not experienced in cutting hair, avoid doing it at home because the chances of your hair becoming bent or uneven are great, to avoid a cut, you must moisturize the ends very well or make an embroidered cut. If a haircut is really necessary, make a video call with a professional hairdresser and he will guide you on how to proceed so that your hair is not uneven.
How to moisturize hair ends: moisten the tips with vegetable oil, wrap the locks with aluminum foil and after two hours, remove the product with warm water, repeat the process once a week.
How to make embroidered cut:it’s ideal that you do this type of cut with a professional, at home you can do it with scissors to eliminate unwanted tips, first you must separate small strands of hair, curl without tightening too much and cut the strands that protrude, one by one.

5- Humidify with oils
Hair moistening is a treatment based on vegetable oils that nourishes, helps to recover damaged hair and split ends, can be done for all hair types.
How to humidify with oils on hair
1– with dry and semi-dirty hair, apply vegetable oil strand by strand, from the root to the ends
2– let the oil soak in your hair for two hours, or if you prefer you can sleep with it in your hair.
3– rinse hair with cold water, shampoo twice in a row and conditioner only on the ends
4– remove excess water, comb your hair and it will be much more silky and shiny.
6- Avoid using hair dryer and flat iron
Being at home gives you greater freedom to use your hair the way you prefer, during this time if possible avoid using a hair dryer and flat iron to avoid damaging the wires, if you are going to use it, be sure to apply a leave-in or thermal protector to protect the hair.
7- Care for dyed hair
Taking care of dyed hair at home can be a greater challenge as colors fade easily, but there are some ways to take care and maintain color for longer.
Use shampoo, conditioner and hydration for dyed hair: they have the necessary components to keep your hair hydrated.
Wash only with cold water: less damaging to the hair and maintaining the shine of dyed strands
Avoid swimming and sun exposure: external factors affect and fade hair color.
Do not wash your hair every day: it depends on the type of your hair, but it is recommended that you wash it every other day
If necessary, touch up the hair: the hair when it starts to fade is not always pleasing, so you can touch up at home, buy the paint and apply it or ask someone else to apply it for you.
